INTERNATIONALISATION STRATEGY

DOKUZ EYLÜL UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONALIZATION POLICY

Dokuz Eylül University is committed to pursuing a comprehensive internationalization policy with the aim of enhancing its global competitiveness and establishing a strong, visible, and sustainable position within the international higher education landscape. The University adopts as institutional priorities increasing student and academic staff mobility, diversifying joint educational programmes, strengthening international research collaborations, increasing the proportion of international students and academic staff, and fostering a multicultural campus environment.

This policy is structured in accordance with the principles of international quality standards, digitalization, research- and project-based internationalization, institutional partnerships, multiculturalism, gender equality, an inclusive academic environment, academic recognition, and global visibility.

Dokuz Eylül University is committed to:

  • Developing international partnerships, enhancing the international recognition of academic programmes, and increasing the number of double-degree and joint-degree programmes;
  • Increasing the exchange mobility opportunities for students, academics, and researchers through Erasmus+, Mevlana, Farabi, and similar mobility mechanisms, as well as through bilateral agreements;
  • Strengthening cooperation with international research universities, institutes, and research centres in order to facilitate researchers’ participation in international networks and enhance their capacity to engage in joint laboratories and research consortia;
  • Increasing participation in global funding mechanisms and programmes, including the EU Horizon Europe, COST, Erasmus+ KA2, and TÜBİTAK–NSF programmes, with the aim of increasing the number, quality, and impact of international projects;
  • Encouraging the production of internationally indexed publications, co-authored publications, and high-impact research outputs in order to enhance the global visibility of research and academic activities conducted at the University;
  • Increasing the number of international students and academic staff to foster a multicultural, inclusive, and internationally oriented academic environment on campus;
  • Ensuring equal opportunities in all mobility activities, projects, academic appointments, and international assignments in order to strengthen gender equality throughout internationalization processes;
  • Providing high-quality counselling, orientation, integration, and language support services for international students;
  • Aligning educational processes with international quality standards, including the ESG, EHEA, and EQF, and transforming the University’s education and training processes into a structure that is internationally recognized;
  • Developing online international programmes, virtual mobility opportunities, shared digital course materials, and international open science practices through digitalization;
  • Strategically improving indicators such as publication performance, research collaborations, the proportion of international staff, and project outputs in order to enhance the University’s visibility in global university rankings;
  • Organizing multicultural activities, academic gatherings, and language and cultural programmes on campus to promote cultural interaction and social cohesion;
  • Establishing performance indicators for monitoring, evaluating, and continuously improving internationalization activities and strengthening internal institutional coordination.

This policy aims to establish an inclusive, multicultural, and sustainable internationalization vision that extends Dokuz Eylül University’s academic excellence to the international arena, strengthens global-scale collaboration in education and research, and enhances the University’s international impact and visibility.
